Happy Resurrection Day!
We remember this day in celebration of Jesus’ resurrection on the third day after being crucified. This is the day where life triumphed over death. He rose again with the power of Salvation. With this act, Jesus cleared everyone’s sin debt in the past, present, and future. This is the gift He freely gives.
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” - John 11:25
The Power of the Resurrection
What does resurrection mean?
Jesus conquered death, fulfilled prophecy, and secured eternal life for all believers. He broke the chains of death, hell, sin, the grave, strongholds, bondage, the list can go on and on. With His work on the cross and resurrection, Jesus accomplished this. It changed everything in history and the future and is the very foundation of our faith.
What Resurrection Means for Us Today
“But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:57
We can be confident that when we gave our life to Jesus, all of our sins was cleared. We no longer are destined for death but have salvation and life through Jesus Christ who took our punishment and purchased our freedom. We have victory over sin and death because of Him.
“…Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” - Romans 6:2-4
We no longer have to live the way we did before . We can shed the shackles of sin and its punishment from our lives and we can live supernaturally, in a manner that was previously impossible, in a manner that is foreign to the way of the world. Holy.
Living in the Light of the Resurrection
How should believers live their life in light of the resurrection?
“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” - Colossians 3:16
- We should live our lives in gratitude, facing each day with thankful hearts!
“You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own.” – Leviticus 20:26
- We should live our lives in holiness. The Lord calls for us to live holy (set apart, different, other than). With the knowledge of God and His love, we should live in holiness.
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5
- We should live our lives with purpose. God has a plan for each and every one of us. He is intentional with every word, move, and decision He makes. He formed us and He knows us so much better than we know ourselves. God has a plan that is tailored to you by what He already knows about you. Live in purpose!
What does the Resurrection of Jesus Christ means to you?
Rejoice! The King is Risen! This day is a day of praise and celebration! I celebrated this day by watching The Passion of the Christ. Share how you celebrated this wonderful day!
Jesus, thank you.
Because of your work on the cross, I am free. Free! I didn’t deserve this gift, you didn’t deserve my punishment but you took it anyways . You willingly stepped out of your glory and lived this perfect life to be the perfect sacrifice for my sins. You wanted to know me more than you worried about the cross. You always knew what you were headed for but you did it willingly and I can’t thank you enough for it . You knew it didn’t end at your death! Thank you for this gift that is too wonderful for words. Even if I said thank you for all eternity, it wouldn’t be enough. May my life be declaration of my thankfulness. I love you!
Amen.
