If there is ever a time for you to trust God, it’s during your hard times. It’s where you learn the most about God. Whether you are in financial hardship, feeling anxious, or in need of healing, trust God. I wanted to bring this topic forward as a testimony but also to share what I do when I am going through a hard time. I pray this helps you!

Testimony Time!

Recently, I was in a stressful health situation which was interfering with my ability to move and to sit down, therefore, messing with my ability to work. The bills were coming in and I was hardcore stressing. It just kept flicking through my head like a speed slideshow. Finally, after days of worrying myself sick(er), I took some pain reliever and told God that I needed to work. He had to guide me and strengthen me, or I wouldn’t be able to do it.

This same day, in the evening, I had a small group to attend, and I wanted to go so badly, it was our last official one! But I was already struggling to move and sit to drive, which I was only able to do because of a coccyx cushion I bought that morning. The medicine wasn’t taking the pain away either, only making the pain more manageable.

Fast forward, I’m almost done with my day, and I just want to curl up in my bed and sleep. But I told God, “I want to go to this meeting. If this pain keeps going, I will just go home. But I really want to go, I just need this pain to stop. I don’t know how You are going to make it happen, but I know You will. I trust You.”

I went home shortly after this to freshen up. I notice that I’m not in as much pain. The pain is diminishing as I am getting ready! I notice my worst pain area hurts only when I press aggressively on it. I was excited! God took my pain away even if He hasn’t yet finished healing me.

You never realize how much you take for granted free movement until you no longer have it.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭

This will be our anchor Scripture. Everything we discuss from here points to this Scripture.

Pray

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

  • Prayer should be our first step, not our last resort. Keep praying. Pray for what you need! Be specific. Pray also for peace in the wait time.

Read the Bible

“Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.”

  • The encouragement that you need is right at your fingertips. Read how others in the Bible dealt with your situation. There is nothing you’re facing that God’s Word doesn’t speak to.

Stand on God’s Promises

“Remember your promise to me; it is my only hope.” Psalm 119:49

I didn’t just tell God about my situation. I told my situation about God!

After I gave my situation to God, I turned and told my situation about what God’s Word says concerning me!

  • By His strips, I am healed.
  • My faith (in Him) has made me well!

These promises are some of the ones I told my situation. And when you do this, you have to stand on them! You have to believe they are true and that God’s character is trustworthy to see it through.

“I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.” Psalm 138:2

Practical Application

What should you do now?

  1. Open the Bible.
    • If you are using a Bible app, search what you need from God. See what promises God makes on your behalf. If you are using an actual book (props to you!), search on these apps for what you are dealing with.
  2. Create battle cards.

Here’s how:

  • Take an index card. Write your struggle or situation on one side. On the other side, write down what God’s Word says about that situation.
  • Review those cards every day. Every time it comes to mind. Until this word has sunk into your heart and you can remark it by memory.

Don’t just read it, believe it!

You are not alone—God is with you. I understand this is easy to read, hard to implement. This will take time but it’s okay. Baby steps forward are still steps.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I pray this has helped you and I look forward to hearing your testimonies as well!

God, I thank You. Nobody likes being stressed and downtrodden but Your Word says that You give rest to the heavy laden, You take the burden of the weary. You said that Your power is made perfect in our weakness. That Your strength is revealed when we are weak! Thank You that You never leave us in our situation. You walk alongside us and even fight before us! God, I pray that this post will do exactly what You set it out to do. I pray that it is pleasing to You and it gives You all the honor, praise, and glory because You are worthy of it all! I love You. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen!
